I don’t understand the driver next to me…I am confused by her tendency to slow and brake at the green light and then at the next approaching intersection accelerate into the red light…it seems a little contrary to natural selection if you take my meaning. It’s not that I am advocating aggressive or reckless driving…it’s the metaphor of this matter that amuses me, because I suspect it has more meaning than the driver realizes…she I am sure, confounded by a constant series of red lights that is her life. These intersections and how she navigates them are her story…they represent how she approaches opportunity – cautiously and with just enough reserve to miss the prize…the light inevitably turns red and the reward is gone. Somehow it then registers that the exact opposite applies to those barriers before her…it seem a little backwards – it seems a bit absurd…racing toward a red light with a misplaced sense of optimism. I love the symbolism of it all…how on closer inspection we all reveal everything there is to know about us…just by watching how we pass through the intersections of life.

About Lawrence Lewis
I do a number of things professionally...but most of all and the true purpose of what I do through "my work" is to provide for my family, be a good husband and great father, and try to make a difference as a world citizen...I guess it's not much more complicated than that 🙂
Yes, i am smiling. My experience riding the subway this week, metaphorically speaking – life was way too busy and I was unable to even reach the fast lane, so I took a slower mode – but still arrived and enjoyed my destination – seeing things along my route that i would have missed. At night I was able to sleep, since I had excercised, and I was at peace. Eventually able to navigate, I did ride the subway. I just needed a better awareness, I needed to get over the anxiety and be prepared. I had a plan. Achievable.
I hope you are enjoying the conference and taking advantage of the diversity and excitement of the TO!
I met a person I hold in high regard. Paul Martin. Enjoying the speakers and the workshops and info sessions. Toronto is amazing.
