One step closer…just trying to keep pace with my beating heart, trying to be brave…one more step closer. I wish time could stand still and let me catch my breath, and let me stand in a moment of pause to feel the fullness of our lives…but she pulls us forward into the next step, beat of my heart and breath…exhale, sigh. All along I have believed in all the promises of this life…any doubt is quickly swept away by your smiles, the grasp of my finger by your tiny hand…I realize that time has found us and with each step brings us all closer together, and she has given us another day and promised a thousand more. Still I die a little every day anticipating the final step…heart beats are not infinite, nor are breaths…how to be brave? Every step it seems brings us to this…one step closer…always one step closer.
