I get a little tired of the rhetoric…the corruption of traditions and culture to serve the interests of self absorbed and unhealthy people desperate to advance their own agenda.  I sat through a meeting today with people ‘speaking’ the ‘truth’ through lies and conjecture…far to eager to call others down all the while turning away from their own obligations and responsibilities…their own history of misdeeds and transgressions.  Sometimes I fear that the truth and responsibility of being Indian is truly lost…and as I look around this table the very people who should be leading their people are making self serving shallow arguments for their own benefit…it’s shameful.  The round table finishes…so now what I think?  I measure my tone and lower my voice almost to a whisper and remind them that they all had a part to play in the present situation, and that if pressed they could all be held accountable either for their actions…or worse I emphasize for their inaction…and then I advise them that I reject their positions and erroneous statements/requests/arguments.  I look at each of them, pausing to ensure eye contact and then call the meeting over…deciding then to make some pretty significant organizational changes.
