What does a self-portrait look like?  Is it as simple as shining bright in the night sky…a point of light surrounded by darkness…when still a thousand words could not tell the story of any single star in the sky.  Perhaps it’s a little less complicated than origins of the universe…but not as simple as a Polaroid either…so what does a self-portrait look like – what does mine look like?  I suppose it would incorporate the fading ancestry of my father, and somehow the brilliance of my children…not sure how that would look, hmmm…and how does one capture the the grace and beauty of the woman I took flight with, sigh?  If I am be true to this cause, there has been equal parts joy and pain…and even some suffering and a little bullshit too…throw in some good laughs and mind bending experiences…and just a tear or two – literally.  Try to0 hard and this portrait becomes more blurry and convoluted because there is so much that is important to capture…this is the struggle, because there’s a man in that beautiful collage…and I wonder if drawing the lines of my face would somehow lessen it.

About Lawrence Lewis

I do a number of things professionally...but most of all and the true purpose of what I do through "my work" is to provide for my family, be a good husband and great father, and try to make a difference as a world citizen...I guess it's not much more complicated than that 🙂
