Sam…the community gathered today to pay respects…and to say goodbye.  There was a great sea of faces of family and friends coming together to remember and celebrate you…the ‘set’ of your lifetime – it was, sadly it seemed this time, meant to be.  And as short as your time may have been here…and as hard as this transition will be for those closest to you,  your uncle Albert very eloquently reminded all of us of the wonderful young man you were, and of our responsibility to ensure the true spirit of your life resound for the rest of time with your daughters and son, and all your family and each other…that only in the absence of memories will you really be gone. Chief Joseph took great care and respect with your mom and dad, children and family, and indeed all of us on this hard day…and spoke very clearly about the worlds in which we exist with the ancestors, and the divine universe that connects all us…that our noble houses are calling on all of us to better understand our origins.  His kind and soft tone very much eased the sadness of wishing you farewell…and departing one last time on our separate ways. Thank you Sam for some great memories at the Landing, playing Texas Holdem and softball…I wish you a safe journey and may you find renewed life beyond this place…and may you find peace. Ha’la kas la.

About Lawrence Lewis

I do a number of things professionally...but most of all and the true purpose of what I do through "my work" is to provide for my family, be a good husband and great father, and try to make a difference as a world citizen...I guess it's not much more complicated than that 🙂
