I remember your little feet…and your funny little giggle and how your little fingers wrapped around my one…and I remember the first time you fell asleep in my arms.  The miracle of you is revealed every day in your smile and beautiful light kiss on my cheek…I never know what quite to say to  it all, and just relax into the joy and excitement of being your father…and with each passing day watch you grow up despite my every will to the contrary.   I am thankful that you found your way to us…and it’s hard not to feel anxious, even now, about that journey that made our family…and how the littlest thing like your hand in mine can still overwhelm me.  So I close my eyes and remember instead how you danced and kicked that first night…how every so often you grab on to me and hug me with all your might…and I remember so many things that make me smile and happy and laugh.  I love you to the moon and back Kate….and I remember how you hate it when I call you my ‘little’ girl…sigh.

About Lawrence Lewis

I do a number of things professionally...but most of all and the true purpose of what I do through "my work" is to provide for my family, be a good husband and great father, and try to make a difference as a world citizen...I guess it's not much more complicated than that 🙂
