Mistakes get made…there is no point in hiding it away…it’s better in my view to wear them like badges of honor.  Sometimes the hardness of living – the legacy of who we are and where we come from – darkens the landscape and we get fearful and somehow loose our voices…we all share a moment or two like this – where mistakes happen…and granted some of us more dark moments than others.  Still, the difference between living well and just barely living at all seems to be the ability to recognize and accept this difference…that we will make mistakes…and that the sum of them has no more weight than any single one of them.  Clearly some mistakes can’t be undone…or for that matter forgiven…such is the nature and consequence of choice – we are all required, and so we should be, to live with the burden and inconvenience of our mistakes.  The point here is that while a mistake may define you in its moment…it does not have to define you in the moments that follow…redemption, no matter the sin, is always waiting.  The honor in the mistake is not in celebrating it…quite the opposite, it’s about living better because of it…and in never making it again.

About Lawrence Lewis

I do a number of things professionally...but most of all and the true purpose of what I do through "my work" is to provide for my family, be a good husband and great father, and try to make a difference as a world citizen...I guess it's not much more complicated than that 🙂
