Malahat Nation is constructing a new cultural resource centre and has recently given it the name Kwunew Kwasun which when translated means “Catch a Star”.
We extend an invitation to all artists who wish to submit their original works entry for our new logo that demonstrates First Nation theme and is inspired by the spirit of the facilities and strength of the words.

The winning entry will receive:
- $2,500.00
- 2 tickets to a Gala fundraising auction on Nov 02, 2013.
- Recognition at the Gala fundraising auction.
- Recognition on our website; and
- A feature reveal of the design at the Gala fundraising auction.
All artwork:
- Must be original artwork created by the submitting artist.
- Be maximum 3 colours.
- Must be submitted in 30″ x 30″ platform/medium, size of image is at artists option, however larger images are encouraged.
- Must have the signed Artist Disclosure Statement (attached) accompanying each submission (which includes artist bio, submission story/description and release of right to submission to Malahat).
- Must be received by 4:00pm October 18, 2013.
Selection:
- Entries judged by a panel consisting of 1 member from the Nation’s council, a youth of the community and a business leader from the broader community
- The winning entry announced by October 25th 2013
- All entries become the property of the Malahat Nation for exclusive and sole use, and may be used for a variety of purposes. Malahat Nation reserves the right to change, alter, and reformat the original winning logo design as needed.
- Entries not selected as the winner will be placed in auction at the Gala Nov 02nd and 25% of the proceeds from sold items will be provided to the artist.
