The night is warm and the occasional star breaks through the city lighted clouds…it’s Christmas eve and the absence of brightness from glistening white snow is throwing things a little off…but the tree is surrounded by a modest volume of presents and our children are fast asleep confident in the reality of Santa and his imminent visit this very night.  Friends and family have been more than generous with invitations, well wishes and gifts – so much so, that we have been able to share with others of lesser fortune much of the bounty…a goodness and kindness whether intended or not, that we are humbled to do.  During the evening after the final stockings are stuffed and cookie plate emptied to ensure the illusion is complete…my mind can’t help but wonder through the first world problems that push for attention in our lives, and I choose to ignore them for a few more days.  Instead opting for the beautiful things that will shine bright through the eyes and screams of delight of my 5 and 2 year old early tomorrow morning…laugh and be merry with the ones we love both near and far over the coming days…and be very grateful and very thankful for it all.

About Lawrence Lewis

I do a number of things professionally...but most of all and the true purpose of what I do through "my work" is to provide for my family, be a good husband and great father, and try to make a difference as a world citizen...I guess it's not much more complicated than that 🙂
