…are four in total: Lawrence, Doug, Louise and Diane.  I am pretty sure in the beginning we had our own sort of paradise filled with loving parents, happiness and a future bright with plans and determination and resolve for something that was more than the sum of our position.  I have no specific recollection of those moments when our family unit began to deteriorate but do remember the painful journey that  followed…so many things changed frequently and for such a long time. The first pages of our stories taken away…rewritten over and over again…paradise lost…too much hardship and unnecessary sadness.  Thankfully we all survived this turmoil and emerged in so many ways strong and beautiful…each of us somehow better and more powerful because of it…with the spirit to live and thrive – to be something more than the script of our young lives.  Our journeys have been so different that each of us are both disconnected and connected to the other in the same instance…pages missing from our stories…the things that bind a family somehow uncertain and incomplete.  What I know for certain though is that I am so proud that we have become the men and women that we are today…even if there is this struggle raging in the reflection of our lives constantly exorcising those demons inherited from our parents.  We are, each of us I believe, somehow still those best qualities of Skip and Louise…and that the rest is defined by the journey and purpose that now makes our stories truly our own…a new kind of paradise.

About Lawrence Lewis

I do a number of things professionally...but most of all and the true purpose of what I do through "my work" is to provide for my family, be a good husband and great father, and try to make a difference as a world citizen...I guess it's not much more complicated than that 🙂
