She eats her Calimari with her mouth open…there is a crunchy kind of squishy noise that emerges…which I find somewhat cute and equally annoying – I don’t say anything. In the moments that make up this dream I learn a lot…she tells me she’s Japanese and her name, which in the multi-verse of dreams I immediately Google and discover it’s the same as a Miss Vancouver and a foreign movie star – both Chinese and neither look anything like her…hmmm, interesting and perplexing – I decide not to believe her on both accounts. Somehow the conversation turns to time…not the passage of or it’s lineal reality, but more the nature of it’s complexities in determining the essence of singular events…we talk in circles over this nonsensical paradigm and spicy red curry covered leafy greens, and the most tender beef chunks we agree ever existed. Through it all there is an uneasiness…like neither of us should be in this place, sharing this time (whatever it’s dimensions)…and I am not sure what is the more troubling guilty pleasure: the company, the food or the conversation. Still, I am captivated and unapologetic…her, I can tell, much less invested in this whole affair which makes me a little sad…and like all dreams never meant to be remembered or told eventually fades to black and is gone forever.
