Some may consider the video below a crazy, even ridiculous thing to do…or maybe something simply fun and flip with no lasting impact…but I think my assessment matches more of what a wise young Malahat told me.  “This is a great way to bring the community together” (George Harry Jr.)…this seemingly crazy idea that takes its form on FaceBook and borrowed from someone else demonstrates mightily…is that Nation Building is less about organized meetings, workshops and all kinds of other allegedly important ‘stuff’…and more about engaging and demonstrating  our connection and appreciation of each other in real time, through fun and play and laughter.  It also should highlight for FN leaders and administrators that our communities are standing by to be engaged on the terms and in the media where we live and talk already…it is increasingly essential that we engage the ubiquitous nature of modern social media…we can Nation Build by design or by accident.  I would advocate that we take some time to do it by design…and arrive where we fully intend…with big and bold and beautiful modern Indian warriors, elders and communities.

About Lawrence Lewis

I do a number of things professionally...but most of all and the true purpose of what I do through "my work" is to provide for my family, be a good husband and great father, and try to make a difference as a world citizen...I guess it's not much more complicated than that 🙂
