You understand of course why math is the universal language…no matter how you interpret 2+2 it’s always going to equal 4. The spoken and written language is really open to a whole mess of…well messy interpretations of literal and figurative meaning. Throw in how someone might be ‘feeling’ that day or the ‘tone’ of someone’s voice…not to mention a thousand other little cultural and social nuances you can’t even begin to fathom…and it’s truly any wonder we can speak effectively to each other at all, ha ha ha. I think though that no matter what words are used to communicate…despite their defined or exaggerated meaning, regardless of language or translation, and no matter all the peripheral distractions of our human interpretations…the very fact that words can yield so much command is truly a magical thing – even if sometimes they make absolutely no sense at all!
