Suicide is a difficult thing for me to accept…it seems such a selfish choice that I have a hard time coming to terms with it.  Life is not supposed to be easy…in fact, in many ways I think it shouldn’t be…some of life’s burdens and hardships exist I believe for the very purpose of allowing each of us the opportunity to fight through it and emerge a much better, stronger and healthier human being – to prove ourselves worthy and to take ownership of the life we have been blessed with.  In many ways though I acknowledge that this view can be somewhat ill-conceived given the incredible injustices, addictions and a multitude of other sins forced upon people…where the reality for some  is often far to harsh and unbearable, and certainly not for me or others to judge when they choose to end their pain and suffering.  Still though, suicide says a lot about our communities…and it reflects how we have as individuals lost our ability to truly engage the building of the social fabric that binds our civilization together.  Suicide is the glaring reminder to us all that we have, in the pursuit of our own personal agenda’s and excesses, left someone behind…that either by action or inaction sacrificed a human soul…and in the final analysis says far more about the living than the selfish act of a desperate individual.
