I like being happy.  Perhaps it might even be better stated as ‘I choose to be happy’…which is a pretty commanding starting point when you think about it…it really frames the reality of my existence.  For example, I could choose to worry about not making enough money (and really is there ever enough?), or I could choose to find fault and imperfections in my partner or choose to be stressed about a whole lot of things I have little or no control over…but why?  Instead I choose to adore and respect my wife; be thankful for the 2 little souls we’ve been blessed with calling our own; and work just hard enough to make sure that all of our essential needs and priorities are taken care of…but also, I spend time appreciating the important people and components of my life every day.  And while there is plenty to be upset and unhappy about in the immediacy of our day-to-day lives…and sometimes even more so in the world around us…being happy ultimately is a function of personal choice.  It’s a simple thing really, and perhaps that’s why it evades so many people…so at the end of this post think about someone or something that makes you smile and feel good…and choose to be happy.

About Lawrence Lewis

I do a number of things professionally...but most of all and the true purpose of what I do through "my work" is to provide for my family, be a good husband and great father, and try to make a difference as a world citizen...I guess it's not much more complicated than that 🙂
