We are forced, on occasion, to be reminded that there are people who will take what is not theirs, hurt for the sake of causing pain, and cause havoc because they can…not because it suits some grander purpose but because it satisfies their simple minds in some unknown way.  I will never fully understand how, or why, one human will intentionally harm another only because the opportunity presents itself…how it is that our evolution determines that the first instinct is to take what’s not theirs…instead of a much higher, more noble path – more human path?  Perhaps it’s a good lesson for the rest of us to be more wary…a reminder for us when these bad things happen to us…that predators and bad people exist and are always present. That, sadly, everything we value is at risk of being taken from us, even if only for a moment…we forget what cowards and evil lurks in the darkness and shadows around us.
