Hmmm…try this.  See me smiling, slightly grinning and feeling good…close your eyes if you have to – it’s okay if you smile too.  This is not an exercise in vanity…not at all…it’s about putting aside the math and logic of living, and deciding to interpret your world the same way you did in the arms of your grandmother, or whatever warm soul you find yourself thinking about when you least expect it.  I suspect if you did in fact close your eyes the smiling face you would have seen would not have been mine at all…but yours smiling back at you.  So much of what we do and say…the choices we make…don’t make much sense in the presence of that smiling face back at you.  There’s a riddle in there somewhere I guess…but what I know for certain is that when I am wrapped up in that embrace, whether its the memory of my grandmother or my 5 year old daughter…I am reminded that living is a temporary thing.  We best be wise about that limitation and chose the starting points smartly and the end points graciously…and if we are doing something that smiling face would not approve of…stop and do something else.

About Lawrence Lewis

I do a number of things professionally...but most of all and the true purpose of what I do through "my work" is to provide for my family, be a good husband and great father, and try to make a difference as a world citizen...I guess it's not much more complicated than that 🙂
