I am lucky enough to have a sister whose heart is as bold as lions. Louise is the type of person whom considers all the best qualities of people first and foremost…she will be the most honest reflection of yourself, and she will let you know the truth about what you are preaching or the venom you are spewing…and she will be your best friend until you do something to deserve otherwise. Her story is no less complex in trials and tribulations than mine…or yours perhaps, and the truth is there is more that I don’t know, than I do…but still somehow she managed to navigate her life with far more grace and elegance than I did, or ever could. I think what inspires me most about my sister is the strength and honesty of her person…an immediately evident resolve and presence that clearly defines her brightness and clarity as a strong, independent and beautiful woman…someone whom you can lean on and cry with; who will tell you the truth and in the manner in which you need to hear it; and be the first to throw her head back and laugh with you like little kids. The hardest part for me though, is being so far apart and understanding that it may in fact be the distance that keeps these bonds strongest…all us kids share this requirement to some extent and saves us all I think…not sure how else to explain it, sigh. Today though, it’s even more harder than usual, because it’s her birthday and all I want to do is give her a big hug and spend some time just talking, laughing and catching up…and it makes me sad that it can not be so…Happy Birthday Louise, I love you and miss you dearly.
