It’s a mathematical certainty that there is another intelligent life form somewhere out there in the universe…in fact, it’s a mathematical certainty that there are millions of other intelligent life forms out there…somewhere. The folks from S.E.T.I. believe that the continuing pace of technological development will result in contact with an inter-galactic neighbor within 12 years…1st contact it seems is a question when not ‘if’…makes me wonder about what 1st contact might look like, hmmm. Well, honestly, I don’t know…but while the reality may be that we will confirm other intelligent life in the cosmos soon…it may also be the reality that we will never ever visit each other, or share a meal or exchange cultures. I hope the latter is not true…and I hope that if we are fortunate enough to share the intimate space of direct contact that we do so with reverence and awe…somehow avoid our immature nature, hysteria and fear…and embrace this new period of humanity with grace.
