None of us are perfect. In fact most of us are pretty flawed in a lot of ways…so flawed in fact, that we have become masters at camouflaging our imperfections so that others may not now they exist at all. So it’s particularly hard for me, in a makes me irritated kind of way, when I see young people treating each other badly, using atrocious language and hurtful attitude to beat down another young human being so that they may feel better about themselves. It’s more than a little upsetting because we all know these horrible skills sets – being a bully or abuser – are learned in their homes from the very people the love and trust the most…a very sad statement indeed, sigh. I think we forget far too easily that we are all by design imperfect and that in that imperfection is our uniqueness…and from this uniqueness the very worth and value, and beauty, in each of us is generated. It seems more plausible to me that our differences are the essence of what truly brings us together, unites us with common purpose and cause…further that the honest measure of our humanity will be in our kindness and tolerance of each other. Each of us has this obligation to impart this wisdom and knowledge, especially our children…to cure this modern sickness, which if we are not careful may be the downfall for all of us.
